CVE-2026-115897Serialize JavaScript serializes JavaScript values to a superset of JSON that includes regular expressions and functions
Executive summaryThe advisory describes a fix in the Serialize JavaScript library, which serializes JavaScript values including regular expressions and functions. The change addresses a case where a function body ending in a script close tag could be left unescaped, which could allow a closing script tag to be formed in output. The advisory does not state a severity rating, and it does not state a specific fixed version. Technical summaryThe flaw concerns incomplete escaping of script close tags in serialized function bodies, which is a script-injection class issue in serialized output. The patch changes the escaping regular expression so that a bare "</script" at the very end of a function body is also neutralized, because the newline added by the space option could otherwise complete the tag in the surrounding output. The advisory includes unit tests for these cases. The advisory does not state the attack vector in detail, the preconditions beyond the use of the space option, affected version ranges, fixed version numbers, CVSS score, or any workaround. Detection guidance is not stated. Summaries are generated by AI from the linked advisory text. Confirm versions and fixes at the source. CVE-2026-115754serialize-javascript from 7.0.1 before 7.1.3 contains a cross-site scripting vulnerability that allows attackers to break out of HTML script elements by ending serialized...
Executive summaryThe serialize-javascript library, versions from 7.0.1 before 7.1.3, contains a cross-site scripting flaw that lets attackers break out of HTML script elements. The advisory describes this as a cross-site scripting vulnerability but does not state a severity rating or CVSS score. The fix is included in the code changes shown, and the advisory does not state other vendor recommendations. Technical summaryThe flaw is a cross-site scripting issue in which a script close tag at the very end of a serialized function body is not escaped, so a later value in the output can supply the closing delimiter and break out of a script element. The advisory does not state the attack vector or user interaction required. The vulnerable range is 7.0.1 before 7.1.3, and the fixed version is 7.1.3 as the affected range implies. The advisory shows a patch to index.js changing the SCRIPT_CLOSE_REGEXP lookahead to match end of string, and adds unit tests referencing PSECBUGS-118415. No workaround, CVSS score, exploitation status, or detection guidance is stated in the advisory. Summaries are generated by AI from the linked advisory text. Confirm versions and fixes at the source. CVE-2026-97711Serialize JavaScript serializes JavaScript values to a superset of JSON that includes regular expressions and functions
From the advisorySerialize JavaScript serializes JavaScript values to a superset of JSON that includes regular expressions and functions. From 7.1.1 until 7.1.2, function values serialized by serialize-javascript are not fully protected against script-closing tags in attacker-influenced function source because SCRIPT_CLOSE_REGEXP can consume a second closing tag inside one match. When the serialized function is embedded in a script element, the surviving closing tag terminates the element early and causes the remaining output to be parsed as HTML, enabling cross-site scripting in the page origin. Only function values are affected; ordinary data values and options.isJSON output are unaffected. This issue is fixed in version 7.1.2.
